Cecconi’s Dumbo is the New York branch of the iconic Cecconi’s Italian restaurant group. It is located at 55 Water Street, on the ground floor of the Empire Stores warehouse.
How it Started
The original Cecconi restaurant opened in London in 1978 and eventually went through several changes over the years, including a change in management.
The current management is in partnership with Nick Jones – Founder of Soho House. Under the Soho House management, Cecconi’s expanded its presence worldwide and in 2017, Cecconi’s Dumbo opened its doors.
It was all about the view. The Soho House Founder wanted a Cecconi’s in New York with an amazing outdoor view. Just ask anyone who has been to Cecconi’s Dumbo, and they’ll tell you they found the right place.
The empire stores in Dumbo are situated perfectly with waterfront views of the Manhattan skyline and bridge. Cecconi’s dumbo has been said to have the best terrace view in Brooklyn, making it one of the best Waterfront Restaurants of Brooklyn.
Cecconi’s Dumbo Outdoor Dining
Outdoor dining at Cecconi’s Dumbo is another experience on its own, especially at night. Cecconi’s dumbo at night is perfect for tourist visits, date nights, birthday celebrations, and other special events.
Enough About Outside Dining, What’s Going on Inside?
The restaurant’s interior is spacious and elegant. There is the main dining room with brick walls and arched windows, a traditional pizza oven, and a barroom with a large central counter.
You can sit at the bar and even chat with the bubbly mixologists. The restaurant has dim lighting which reinforces the high-end, classy ambiance it goes for. It deserves an A+ in that regard.

Book a reservation or walk in?
Technically, Cecconi’s Dumbo allows walk-in customers but making reservations are strongly advised. The restaurant is a hot spot with a great view. Needless to say, many people would be trying to get in on the action.
You might be looking at a horrendously long wait if you choose to walk in. Ironically, many customers have said they still had to wait even though they made reservations earlier.
You can try going a bit earlier than you reserved time to try and avoid that problem. They can also be pretty difficult to reach through email or phone calls, so if you can make the reservations at the restaurant, that would be the safest bet.
Make It a Private Event
The restaurant offers a private dining area for booking. The dining room comes with a patio that has a view of the Manhattan skyline and bridges.
Alternatively, you can choose to keep the room extra private by closing the Venetian curtains. The dining room can seat up to 36 guests and would be nice for intimate gatherings like thanksgiving dinners, engagement or wedding dinners, etc.
Soho Friends Membership
Thanks to the partnership between Hani Farsi and Nick Jones, Cecconi’s Dumbo restaurant counts as a Soho House Restaurant. Soho House offers two different kinds of memberships – Soho Friends Membership and Soho Work Membership.
It is the former that concerns Cecconi’s restaurant groups. A Soho Friends membership gives you a 20% discount on all Cecconi’s around the world on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and from 4 pm on Saturdays.
